About
I earned my MD in December 1994, finished my US-based residency in internal medicine in June 2003, and have been ABIM certified since August 2003. Prior to moving to the US, I was trained in nephrology, and after US board certification, I received postgraduate training in gerontology in Australia. Afterwards, I served as a consultant internist and department head in a private hospital based in Dubai, UAE. Having a wide scope of practice in different specialties and with different healthcare systems makes me more competent and confident in dealing with patients from different backgrounds, with multiple comorbidities including patients with renal insufficiency/failure and those on different renal replacement modalities and transplant recipients, as well as with the elderly.
Since 2022, I have been working as a primary care provider with Indiana University health and associate professor of medicine at Indiana University. I am especially interested in endocrinology, concentrating on the recent advances in diabetic care and the modalities to slow and prevent the progression of chronic diabetic complications.
