About
Karen Belgard has worked as an audiologist in the greater Milwaukee area since 1986. She received her Master of Arts (M.S.) degree from Northwestern University and her Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D.) from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences. Before coming to Froedtert & the Medical College in 2008, she worked in a large ENT Clinic and then for a smaller ENT practice. She has extensive experience in diagnostic audiology and hearing aid technology and fittings. Dr. Belgard has lectured on Ototoxicity and Ototoxicity Monitoring as well as on hearing loss and hearing aids on both the local and state levels.
Dr. Belgard has a special interest in working with hearing impaired patients and with hearing aids. She also has a strong interest in working with physicians and patients on the topic of Ototoxicity and the importance of Ototoxicity Monitoring. Patient education and counseling are a large part of her focus. Providing her patients with a better background regarding their hearing and balance functions allows her patients to be more active participants in their own healthcare decisions.
