Ophthalmology is a field that is rapidly changing and advancing. Many conditions that recently would have caused visual loss are now be treated successfully. I believe that patients should have easy access to the best current treatments. This always involves listening and incorporating patient needs, goals, abilities and concerns to develop a clinical plan. I find the treatment of patients with multiple problems (for Instance cataract and glaucoma or glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy) particularly rewarding.

About
I grew up in a small community north of Chicago, where my father was the first, and for many years the only, ophthalmologist. His patients were very appreciative of his efforts and that made a big impression on me. I received my undergraduate education at Williams College in Massachusetts and medical school at University of Illinois where I met my wife, who is a local pediatrician. My mother's family was from Milwaukee, so when I had the chance to do my residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin it seemed like a natural fit. Since graduating I have been at the same location in Racine, where I have also continued to teach cataract surgery to the residents. I am very excited to be joining the Medical College of Wisconsin as full time. Our practice will remain in Racine and we plan to bring the best of academic medicine to our community.
Outside of medicine, my interests include reading (always discussing good books!), getting outside for running, skiing, biking, and travel.
