Needing to see an eye specialist can be associated with feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, and fear. My partners and I want to help. We offer compassion, information, cutting-edge treatment, and hope.

Dr. Thomas Connor earned his bachelor's degree from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. After completing a medical internship at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, Dr. Connor returned to Baltimore to complete his ophthalmology residency at the Wilmer Eye Institute of the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He came to Milwaukee and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) for a fellowship in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. Following completion of his fellowship, he returned to the Wilmer Eye Institute/Johns Hopkins Hospital to serve as assistant chief of service/director of ocular trauma service. He was pleased to return to the MCW Eye Institute and the department of ophthalmology in 1994 and has been here since, currently serving as professor of ophthalmology and director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program. He enjoys his role in academic ophthalmology with a busy clinical and surgical practice while also serving as an educator — teaching medical students, residents, fellows, other physicians and the community at large. He is most pleased with his active research collaborations with his fellow colleagues on the retina service and the MCW Advanced Ocular Imaging Program (AOIP).

Dr. Connor is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, but has transitioned well into a Packers, Brewers and Bucks fan. He and his wife, Sue, are active in scouting and coaching youth sports, and they are the proud parents of triplets.

This was that I had to wait 45mins, then the desk person said it would be another10 to 15 mins, I never saw the doctor. When you make an appointment for 3:00pm the time you get to see the doctor should not be 4:30pm. For front people never asked me or talked to me about the length of time it was taking.
Dec. 24, 2019
Running late due to emergencies but still gave me his full time and attention.
Dec. 9, 2019
Appointment was scheduled for 9:45am. Didnt see Dr Connor until 11:20am!
Dec. 7, 2019
they know my name and condition/problems and what to do to fix them almost before I tell them. They never make light of my questions or make me feel like I am not important. They CARE!!
Dec. 3, 2019

Nov. 14, 2019
my experience with Dr Connor was excellent. my time in the waiting room was LONG between images and prep then finally seeing the doctor. I was there for over 2.5 hours and it was just a follow up appointment. Lots of people in the waiting room.
Nov. 14, 2019
A well run machine. They get a big fat 10.
Nov. 9, 2019
Dr Conner was exceptional in his care and time spent with my son. This was our first visit and are very happy we made the switch to this office.
Oct. 17, 2019
I was very impressed that Dr. Conner entered the exam room and had already reviewed my file and test results and immediately made me feel at ease about the results.Does Froedert and the Medical College of WI have primary doctors that deal with older adults. Sometimes I feel my current doctor doesn't ask enough questions.
Oct. 17, 2019
waited for three hrs to see the doctor. this is the second time I had to wait three hours. your facility really needs to improve here.
Sept. 27, 2019
Very thorough and pleasant.
Sept. 20, 2019
Excellent Doctor!!!
Sept. 18, 2019
polite and thorough
Sept. 15, 2019
The only problem I feel we had was sitting in a room for 1 hour before we saw the doctor. otherwise our visits have been great!
Sept. 12, 2019
knowledge of my problems and treatment options
Sept. 2, 2019
was extremely knowledgeable and able to explain things to me, so I could understand.
Aug. 20, 2019
I would refer anyone with retinal or other eye issues to Dr. Connor - He is the best I've encountered after years of treatment, excellent!
Aug. 14, 2019
Very professional, knowledgeable, pleasant and understanding.
July 23, 2019
the appointments always run long. often over 1hr wait. I also feel that my treatment is driven by a monetary beneficial choice rather than more long term options. I have taken shots in the eye for over a year but the optical therapy in the past has lasted for years. Recently when i challenged my provider he agreed the optical was ok and he did it. now I am doing better than with the shots. why not do the cost effective and better thing first? This leads to distrust.

Excellent center and physicians
July 2, 2019
Knew everything about my eyes. Received very positive information about my eyes
July 1, 2019
Provider great - surgical team great - office people some were snippy & rude others were great - Spent 5 1/2 hrs. to be told what I knew in the morning with 2 different drs. that took about an hr. of time.
June 20, 2019
absolutely best dr I go to thoughtful through detail in diagnosis and treatment and friendly as all get out
June 20, 2019
*Dr. Connor was friendly, professional, concerned and gave a good explanation of what to expect.
June 20, 2019
Nurse found a small insect on my shoulder while prepping me for retinal exam. She was then far more concerned about this little bug than prepping me. After that the visit went down hill. Had to wait a while for Dr Connor to see me and never had a planned routine retinal scanning done. I felt the visit was rushed after the discovery of one little bug on me. It was summer and I had just come from outside activities, but the nurse far overreacted to this discovery and I felt influenced the rest of my visit. First time I had felt this way.
June 19, 2019
The physician and staff did not accurately prepare me for the discomfort (severe headache and eye pain) I experienced in the hours following surgery.
June 11, 2019
2.5 hour wait on a referral and then did the same things in beginning as l had done on previous appointment in menomonee falls
June 4, 2019
Understanding of my vision problems, having and describing a strategy to address the problem, and unlike the last Md that I saw Dr. Connor did not tell me to smear vaseline on the left lens of my glasses
June 3, 2019
My appointment was scheduled for 11 a.m. My eye was dilated around 11:15 and I was instructed to wait in the lobby. The nurse called me back in around noon. I was told Dr. Connor was across the hall, finishing up with a patient. At 12:47 p.m. I went out into the hall to ask the nurse if she had forgotten about me. Around 12:55 p.m., Dr. Connor came into the room. I was finished up with him around 1:15 p.m. IT IS RIDICULOUS that it took almost TWO HOURS to actually see the doctor. This isn't the first time this has happened. This is my 4th visit with Dr. Connor; I believe 3 out of the 4 visits had me waiting an hour+ to see him.

May 16, 2019
All in all, it was a very pleasant visit. The injection in the eye didn't even hurt!
May 14, 2019
waited for two hours to be seen, my time is very valuable, and including the drive time it took 4 hours out of my day.
May 8, 2019
dr. Connor and his staff are very bright, caring and compassionate healthcare professionals. I would highly recommend them as it is always a pleasure to receive care from this team!

dr Connor has incredible"bedside" dr mannerisms .... exceptional !!
April 17, 2019
Knowledge of my specific case.
April 16, 2019
I had several tests done. I came early due to the construction, 9am, appt at 9:30. I did not see Dr. Connor until I believe 12:30. It was a long morning, I didn't have anything to drink/eat before I left home and had a headache due to all the testing. Sorry, long story short, there was a lot of waiting in between testing and seeing Dr. Connor. By the time I saw Dr. Connor I just wanted some water, something for my headache and actually wanted to go home. BUT....he was so nice and personable, took the time to explain things I didn't understand, answer my questions, explain medical treatments and just take the time I needed to understand. I really enjoyed my visit/time with Dr. Connor and am very happy to have him as my doctor. Thank you!
April 12, 2019
I see this doctor at the Waukesha location where he practices 1 x per week. Which is not sufficient for all the patients who need follow-up care, and it takes a long time (months, sometimes) to be seen there. I think there may need to be another doctor made available there.
April 10, 2019
Dr. Connor is very knowledgeable and shows a high degree of understanding with my condition. He expresses concern and is encouraging about my condition and has led me to very favorable results. He is friendly, easy to talk to and patient with my questions.
April 10, 2019
I had to wait 4 1/2 months for Dr Connor's soonest available appointment. that is too long to live with fear and anxiety of a diagnosis provided by a regular eye doctor. either he needs more hours or more specialists need to be hired.
April 8, 2019
Fantastic Dr. !! There should be more Drs like Dr.Connor !
April 2, 2019

*Dr. Connor is an outstanding doctor. Only issue is that I am always waiting a long time to see him at the appt.
Feb. 17, 2019
on time. thorough. respectful informative. caring.
Feb. 14, 2019
*Dr. Conner is very professional & very thorough.
Feb. 7, 2019
I have seen many doctors in this field is to be exact) and 3 of the others in my opinion were just giving injections for extra money. One doctor who no longer is a physician admitted to this anyway *Dr. Connor is a very trustworthy compassionate gentleman and since seeing him have not had any injections for almost 2 yr. other phy. were giving to me every 6 weeks. *Dr. Connor explains things answers ALL questions and is like a grandfather type that you can trust for professional care. His staff is also top notch & doesn't rush you through anything.
Feb. 5, 2019
During my scheduled appoint I asked three times if Dr. Thomas Conner would provide the check up for my retina and if he would be doing my eye examination for a new prescription. The scheduling department stated yes that the Dr. would be performing the exam. At time of my visit, I waited for Dr. Conner three hours in the waiting room.... then to learn he could not provide me with my eye exam and now I have to spend more money to get my eyes examined. This is not acceptable.
Jan. 22, 2019
He is friendly but professional.
Jan. 21, 2019
I sat in the exam room for over 45 minutes waiting for the Dr. to come in!! There's no excuse for That! I'd rather sit in the waiting room than in the exam room for 45 min.!
