Milwaukee, Wis. – Downtown area residents will be able to participate in free health screenings; meet doctors and nurses; connect with local organizations and community partners including The Juice Kitchen, Milwaukee Police Department (District 1), Progressive Community Health Center, and more; enjoy a free piece of fruit from Pete’s Fruit Market; enter drawings for prizes and more at a free public event at the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin McKinley Health Center. Slated for Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event also will feature appearances by a Milwaukee Bucks legend, the Milwaukee Bucks Dancers and Hoop Troop.
The Froedtert & MCW McKinley Health Center is located at 1271 N. 6th Street.
“This free community event is about getting to know our neighbors and letting them know we’re here for them when they have a health need,” said Kerry Freiberg, vice president of community engagement for Froedtert Health. “We opened this health center to bring convenient, quality health care to the heart of the city, close to where people live, work and play.”
McKinley Health Center opened in November 2017 and offers a wide array of health care resources with a connection to academic medicine. The health center offers primary care for the whole family, FastCare® walk-in care with extended hours, podiatry, orthopaedics, sports medicine, physical therapy, and rehabilitation services.
Parking for the community event is in the new Milwaukee Bucks arena parking structure, located off of McKinley Avenue and North 5th Street (northeast corner). Enter via the main structure entrance (second entrance from McKinley Avenue). To reach the McKinley Health Center, exit through the stairwell on the northwest corner to cross the street.
