Froedtert Health again named a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion

Milwaukee — Froedtert Health was named a Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion, earning a top score on the 2021 Disability Equality Index® (DEI) for outstanding commitment to disability inclusion practices. Froedtert Health also received the top score in 2020.

The DEI assessment measures an organization’s culture and leadership, accessibility, employment practices (including benefits, education and accommodations), community engagement and supplier diversity. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 assessment also asked about innovative technology to advance digital and remote accessibility, mental wellness benefits and flexible work options.

"We are honored to be recognized for the second year in a row as a best place to work for people with disabilities," said Eric Humphrey, senior vice president and chief human resources officer for Froedtert Health. "Our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion includes collaborating with community organizations to identify opportunities and be a workplace of choice for people with different abilities, perspectives and experiences. We strive to provide the tools they need to grow and succeed at Froedtert Health."

Froedtert Health partners with community organizations to identify opportunities to support the hiring of people with disabilities. They include:

  • Project SEARCH, which provides on-the-job training and skill development for participants of TransCen, Inc., CEO Commission for Disability Employment and Threshold, Inc.
  • Best Buddies, which creates opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Goodwill Industries, which provides job training for people who have barriers preventing them from employment

The Disability Equality Index (DEI) is a comprehensive benchmarking tool helping companies build a roadmap of measurable, tangible actions towards disability inclusion and equality. It was developed by two national leaders, American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and Disability:IN, in consultation with the appointed DEI Advisory Committee, a diverse group of experts in business, policy, and disability advocacy. Each company receives a score, on a scale of zero (0) to 100. Froedtert Health scored 100, representing the most inclusive.
