Reimagining the patient experience using AWS with the Froedtert & the MCW Health Network

From AWS — The Froedtert & MCW health network is using technology to reimagine health care. Its innovation arm, Inception Health, seeks to improve the patient experience through digital applications that use artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to personalize care and alleviate stress on clinicians. In its quest to meaningfully transform digital engagement, Inception Health built a digital platform powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Patients can now access, control and understand their own data, and state-of-the-art applications provide insights and corresponding personalized programs that facilitate access to care.

Virtual nurses are coming to a hospital near you

Erin Green, RN, Froedtert & MCW executive director of digital health clinical operations, told Verywell that virtual nursing has been a long-standing program at Froedtert & MCW health network since 2005. That’s when we launched a “Virtual ICU” to help relieve staff burden from rising patient volumes and acuity, as well as a diminishing workforce.

She quickly learned it wasn’t just heart burn — it was a symptom of a heart attack. Doctors were able to save her life with a heart stent, which kept that artery open. Stacy Gardiner, MD, Linda's Froedtert & MCW cardiologist, said that heart disease is the number one health threat for women. Their symptoms, she said, can be very different from men.
