From AWS — The Froedtert & MCW health network is using technology to reimagine health care. Its innovation arm, Inception Health, seeks to improve the patient experience through digital applications that use artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to personalize care and alleviate stress on clinicians. In its quest to meaningfully transform digital engagement, Inception Health built a digital platform powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Patients can now access, control and understand their own data, and state-of-the-art applications provide insights and corresponding personalized programs that facilitate access to care.

From Verywell Health — Virtual nursing is being implemented in hospitals across the U.S. A virtual nurse is a real human registered nurse, not an AI robot. Erin Green, RN, Froedtert & MCW executive director of digital health clinical operations, told Verywell that virtual nursing has been a long-standing program at Froedtert & MCW health network since 2005. That’s when we launched a “Virtual ICU” to help relieve staff burden from rising patient volumes and acuity, as well as a diminishing workforce.

Black Americans are not only at greater risk of colon cancer than other races, they also have higher death rates from colorectal cancer when compared with other races.

From Becker’s Hospital Review — Froedtert Hospital was listed among nearly 70 hospitals and health systems named to Newsweek's new list, "America's Greatest Workplaces for Job Starters 2024." The publication and Plant-A, a data intelligence firm, compiled the list based on survey responses from workers with less than five total years of employment experience, at companies with at least 500 employees.

From Becker’s Clinical Leadership — Healthgrades recognized 832 hospitals with its 2024 Patient Safety Excellence Awards and Outstanding Patient Experience Award. Froedtert Hospital was one of only 79 of those hospitals received both awards.

From Spectrum News 1 — Just two months ago, Linda Kiewit was experiencing severe acid reflux, so she decided to see a doctor about it. She quickly learned it wasn’t just heart burn — it was a symptom of a heart attack. Doctors were able to save her life with a heart stent, which kept that artery open. Stacy Gardiner, MD, Linda's Froedtert & MCW cardiologist, said that heart disease is the number one health threat for women. Their symptoms, she said, can be very different from men. From urbanmilwaukee.com — Milwaukee County plans to contract with Froedtert Workforce Health for three on-site employee health clinics. Approximately 4,000 county employees will be able to receive preventative health care, such as checkups and immunizations, and avoid visits to the emergency room for non-emergency health care that still needs same-day attention.

From CBS 58 — A giant girder was used to top off the new Froedtert & MCW Proton Therapy Clinic. Proton therapy is an advanced form of radiation used to treat cancer patients. Right now, proton therapy is not available anywhere in Wisconsin. This story was also covered by WPR.
