Second hospital in the U.S. to use a new device in the war against cancer

From The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel — Paula Wendt, a 47-year-old school nurse and mother of three, became the second cancer patient in the U.S. to be treated with a new device that combines the precision of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with the tumor-killing power of radiation.

Last week, Froedtert & MCW radiation oncologists treated their first cancer patient with the Elekta Unity MR-linac. The Elekta Unity is the first high-field MR-linac technology in the world to simultaneously generate diagnostic quality magnetic resonance images and deliver high-dose radiation beams. Elekta Unity allows radiotherapy to be adjusted in real time and delivered more accurately than ever before.
