To keep your personal belongings safe during your hospital stay, please follow the guidelines below. We strongly encourage patients and visitors to leave valuables and personal items at home or send them home after arrival. If needed, hospital security can store small valuables.

Please note that Froedtert Hospital is not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged belongings.

Lost Items

If you have lost an item, please call the security team at the location.

Clothing

For your comfort and ease of care, hospital gowns will be provided for you to wear during your stay. Personal clothing worn to the hospital should be sent home with family or friends when possible. Comfortable, appropriate clothing can be brought in closer to discharge to wear when you are ready to leave the hospital.

Valuables

We strongly recommend that you do not bring valuables to the hospital. This includes, but is not limited to, items such as jewelry, cash and electronics. If you have any of these items when you get here, it’s best to send them home with a trusted family member or friend. If this is not possible, please notify a member of your care team so your valuables can be properly recorded in your electronic health record (EHR). Our security team can securely store small valuables until you are ready to leave the hospital.

Medications

Bring a list of current medications (prescription, over-the-counter and supplements) including dosages and when you take them. Do not bring medication with you unless directed by a physician.

Dentures

If you wear dentures, please store them safely in a container which we will give you, labeled with your name. To prevent loss or damage, do not place dentures on meal trays, in bedding, under pillows or in clothing pockets, as they can easily be misplaced or thrown away by mistake.

Eyeglasses

When not being used, eyeglasses should be placed in a protective case labeled with your name.

Hearing Aids

When not being used, hearing aids should be stored in their protective case to prevent loss or damage. The container should be clearly labeled with your name. Avoid placing hearing aids on meal trays, in bedding or clothing pockets where they can easily be lost.

Medical Devices

Personal wheelchairs, walkers, canes or any other medical devices should be clearly labeled with your name.
