The Froedtert & the Medical College Sports Performance and Fitness Training Program provides training for athletes and individuals looking to enhance their overall fitness. Our programs are meant for teams, groups and individuals looking to improve their speed, flexibility, strength, endurance, body composition and overall performance in any sport or fitness activity.
Under the watchful eye of our athletic trainers and performance coaches, you’ll receive individualized attention while working towards your personal goals. From professional to weekend athletes, our team has experience with individuals at all fitness levels.

Who goes to the Sports Performance and Fitness Training Program?
Athletes
Our program is for athletes who are serious about improving their strength, agility, speed and conditioning under the watchful eye of a highly trained performance coach or athletic trainer.
It’s for the individuals who want to:
- Work out in smaller groups with varied training routines
- Experience the same training used by athletes in college and beyond
- Prepare their bodies to compete at the highest levels.
Adults
Our program is for adults who are serious about improving their strength, flexibility, balance, and conditioning.
Our approach is for those who:
- Enjoy training individually or in small groups, always under the guidance of an athletic trainer or performance coach
- May have previously gone through physical therapy and want to focus on getting back to normal – or better
Teams
Our program is for teams and small groups looking to:
- Improve their conditioning, strength, or endurance
- Reduce the likelihood of sustaining an injury
- Work towards sports-related goals (increased vertical, enhanced speed/agility/quickness)
New Moms
To get back to your fitness routine after pregnancy, join our core retraining and strengthening sessions. The sessions are personalized for you by a licensed athletic trainer. We consider your previous level of fitness and your current goals when developing a workout plan for you. During training, we will focus on:
- Strengthening your core
- Activating your pelvic floor muscles
- Performing stabilization exercises
Training sessions are offered in packages of 10. Sessions are one hour in duration. Please check with your doctor before engaging in any workout program after giving birth.

What to Expect
When you train with us, expect to work hard, sweat and exercise parts of your body that you might not have known were important. Our performance team will put you and your group through a wide range of speed, agility and conditioning drills, along with weight training. The sessions last 60 minutes and are offered at convenient times throughout the day.
Meet the Trainers

Duane Mueller
Duane Mueller has worked at the Froedtert & MCW Sports Medicine Center since 2006. He graduated in 2005 from UW-Milwaukee with a degree in athletic training. Duane served as the sports medicine intern for the Milwaukee Bucks from 2004-2006. He has a wealth of experience as a licensed athletic trainer, having provided outreach athletic training services at Wisconsin Lutheran High School and Wisconsin Lutheran College. Duane is also a performance enhancement specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and a certified speed and agility coach through Athletes Acceleration. He has helped numerous athletes through our sports performance training, allowing them to achieve greater heights in athletics. As a Milwaukee native, he enjoys sharing his passion for fitness and injury prevention with the community.

Lara Seeby-Halas
Lara joined the staff at the Froedtert & MCW Sports Medicine Center in the summer of 2023. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2023 with a master’s degree in athletic training. During her time with UWM she worked with the Army ROTC cadets facilitating the cadre’s personal training that focused on increasing scores for the Army Combat Fitness Test and injury prevention. She also spent time working with the Milwaukee Fire Department on facilitating programs centered on injury prevention and treatment. Lara also has her level 1 certification as a licensed CrossFit Trainer and enjoys coaching and training CrossFit when not working. She is a Milwaukee native that is looking to share her passion for health and fitness with the community.

Jake Venes
Jake Venes has worked as a sports performance training instructor at the Froedtert & MCW Sports Medicine Center since 2012. He graduated from UW-Milwaukee in 2012 majoring in Kinesiology. Jake is CSCS certified through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA Weightlifting certified, a performance enhancement specialist through National Academy of Sports Medicine and a USA Track and Field coach. While at UW-Milwaukee, he interned for Steve Felde (now University of Minnesota’s Head Strength Coach for Men’s Basketball). He was also an intern under Mike Nitka at Muskego High School and Loren Landow in Denver with Landow Performance. He enjoys working with all athletes but specializes in speed and power.

Initial assessments are 60 minutes long; fee is waived if a training package is purchased.
Semi-Private Training
All sessions are 60 minutes long; semi-private = small group training (four to six athletes); Sessions led by a sports performance coach or licensed athletic trainer
