The trends of 2024 are enthusiastically flowing into 2025. Prioritizing well-being from a holistic viewpoint with personal data has never been more popular, as well as the continued shift towards mental health and mental fitness as a key to transforming employee and organizational health.
Here are five wellness trends that are shaping how we approach health and well-being in 2025.
- Workplace Well-Being Centered On Mental Health: The conversation around mental health continues to evolve with discussions becoming more open and widespread with more employees seeking support and resources. Integrating mental health practices into daily routines is becoming a norm. This shift signifies a positive change in how mental health is perceived and prioritized and how it can help create a thriving, resilient workforce.
- Practical Stress Management Techniques: With everything from communication to shopping available at our fingertips, we are often in a state of overdrive, leading to increased stress levels and anxiety. This culture of urgency can make it challenging to slow down and reflect, which is essential for overall health and well-being. Managing stress is fundamental for positive mental health and well-being. Therefore, to counteract the effects, practical stress management techniques have been increasing in popularity.
- Wearable Technology: The American College of Sports Medicine ranks this as the number one fitness trend for 2025. From smartwatches to rings to fitness bands, these devices support healthy lifestyle behavior change through self-monitoring, goal setting, personalized coaching and actionable insights with real-time self-monitoring and feedback. In 2024, roughly one-third of surveyed wearable users said they used their devices more often than the year before and 75% indicated an openness to using one in the future.
- Exercise Personalization from a Certified Health and Well-Being Coach: Customized fitness plans, driven by data from wearables, allows individuals to work with a health and well-being coach to optimize their exercise routines based on their goals and capabilities. There also seems to be a collective understanding about the importance of gentle movement for healthy aging. Low impact, but not necessarily easy, workouts like Pilates and yoga are on the rise.
- Gut Health: Research highlights the vital role our gut plays not only in digestion but in our overall health and well-being. With the recognition of the gut-brain connection, more people are focusing on gut health as a key component of overall wellness.
