People are directed to the service by their doctor, pharmacist or care team member when additional patient support is needed.
The team is made up of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who are expert problem solvers. When a prescription goes to Froedtert Pharmacy and there is an issue, e.g., maybe it requires a prior authorization or there is a hurdle with insurance coverage, this specialized pharmacy team can help. It is also a dedicated resource for patients who have questions and need more detailed counseling about their pharmacy benefits.
“Froedtert Pharmacy is here to help,” said John Rose, manager of Integrated Pharmacy Services. “Our specialized pharmacy team can assist with medication questions, prescription benefits, medication availability and alternative options, attaining the best price for prescriptions, as well as switching to Froedtert Pharmacy from a different pharmacy.
“We are a help desk for pharmacy patients. Our job is to have detailed conversations with patients and answer their questions. We work with them to remove any stress or confusion surrounding their medications.”
