Froedtert Workforce Health is pleased to announce that it has received Full Plus recognition from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) for its National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP), which is designed to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. This is the top DPP designation from the CDC and confirms Workforce Health services meets the CDC’s quality and delivery standards for a lifestyle change program. In addition to meeting the national standards, Workforce Health has a proven record of participant retention and improvements in physical activity, weight loss and/or glucose or hemoglobin A1c lab values.
According to the CDC, 40 million Americans have diabetes (90-95% are type 2), and over 115 million adults in the United States have prediabetes, a significant risk for developing diabetes. The prevalence of diabetes in Wisconsin continues to climb, costing over $20k per person per year.
The diabetes program supports those at risk of diabetes in their journey toward a healthier lifestyle. During the year-long program groups of 10-16 participants meet with a certified lifestyle coach, sharing highlights and struggles, discussing topics and creating manageable action steps. Physical activity, balanced nutrition, challenging situations and more are covered. Additionally, Froedtert Workforce Health includes biometric testing and lifestyle surveys to track progress.
