Specialized Care by Full-Time, Board-Certified Neuro-Intensivists

The units are staffed by full-time board-certified/board-eligible neuro-intensivists, physicians specially trained for critical care of patients with brain and spine conditions of the blood vessels.

In the NICU, patients with serious neurological conditions of all kinds receive coordinated, skilled care and round-the-clock monitoring. Equipped with state-of-the-science technology, an experienced team of physicians, nurses, therapists and other health professionals collaborate to quickly meet patient needs. On the acute care unit, the same team of physicians, therapists and counselors provide care to patients throughout their stay.

Patients recovering from stroke, neurosurgery and neurovascular injuries benefit from the NICU’s specialized critical care. The NICU is often the bridge between initial emergency care or surgery and preventive care to minimize the risk of future strokes or neurovascular events.

Once in the NICU, patient care focuses on recovery and prevention. Our expert team of specialists also identifies and manages secondary health issues than can impact neurovascular health. In this way, care is based on individual patient needs. Patients are taught about their conditions and associated risk factors that are unique to them.
