Know Your Breast Tissue Density Score for Early Breast Cancer Detection

Having high breast density (more fibroglandular breast tissue than fatty tissue) can make it harder to see tumors on a mammogram and is a risk factor for developing breast cancer. It’s common — about 50% of women older than 40 have some degree of breast tissue density. While you can’t change this condition, it’s important to know about it and have a continued plan for early breast cancer detection. Your breast health team may recommend additional imaging tests and other tactics based on your overall risk picture.
