Primary Care Physicians Focus on Health and Wellness
Sabrina Hofmeister, DO, is a family medicine physician who practices at the Froedtert & MCW Forest Home Health Center. Dr. Hofmeister explains how a primary care physician can help you stay healthy by identifying health risks and acting as a resource for health-related needs.
What role does a primary care physician play in keeping us healthy?
A primary care physician plays an important role in keeping patients healthy. We focus on prevention and wellness, identify health risks, coordinate overall care and act as a resource for health-related needs.
How often should a person see their primary care physician and for what reasons?
This varies depending on a patient's age, overall health status and if you're feeling ill. Should same-day care be needed, our primary care providers offer many same day appointments for our established patients. And, in the event a same-day appointment isn't available, we also offer many other same-day care options in our FastCare® retail medicine clinics or urgent care clinics. But that being said, an in-person visit to the doctor isn't always necessary. For your comfort and convenience, Froedtert & MCW offers many virtual care options as well.
What are the advantages of choosing care with the Froedtert & MCW health network?
We have a wealth of expertise in our physicians. We practice evidence-based medicine and have a unique connection to eastern Wisconsin's only academic medical center and the subspecialty expertise of its academic physicians. From a convenience standpoint, we are very focused on meeting the patient where they are. We offer convenient hours, including extended weeknight hours, multiple virtual and same-day care options and many convenient locations.
