Froedtert Thedacare Health, Inc., breaks ground on new health campus in Fond du Lac

Fond du Lac, Wis. — The newly combined health system of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc., is pleased to announce the groundbreaking of a new health campus in Fond du Lac. The campus will expand convenient access to care for those living in the region.

As of Jan. 1, 2024, Froedtert Health and ThedaCare finalized the agreement to come together as one organization. The combined organization will strengthen local health care and continue to improve health and well-being of communities across Wisconsin.

“We are deeply committed to the people of Wisconsin,” said Cathy Jacobson, CEO of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. “Enhancing access to care is a key principle of our Population Health vision of reinventing health care by becoming proactive partners in health with our communities, including prediction and prevention with primary and specialty care.”

Demand for access to care continues to grow in Fond du Lac, where city and county populations have steadily increased over the past decade. The campus at 755 W. Johnson St. complements community development underway and will be conveniently located in a retail district near I-41, central to the people of this region.

“It is important we help ensure our patients receive the care they expect and deserve while empowering each person to live their unique, best life,” said Imran A. Andrabi, MD, FAAFM, president of Froedtert ThedaCare Health, Inc. “Our goal of the new campus is to offer access to all levels of care, in one coordinated system — close to home. This campus naturally extends the trusted medical care we currently provide the people of this area.”

Breaking Ground on the Health Campus of the Future

The Fond du Lac campus is designed to be different from other hospitals. The smaller-scale, modern hospital will offer easy, around-the-clock access to emergency and inpatient care in an inviting, highly efficient setting. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

The Fond du Lac campus is expected to be approximately 25,000 sq. ft., with an estimated $35M investment. The hospital will have emergency care, inpatient beds and 24/7 coverage with board-certified emergency physicians. For patients requiring additional care, observation and tests, plans call for 24/7 computed tomography (CT) scans, X-ray and ultrasound with outpatient access.

More services may be added over time based on community need.

“Our patients and families were our priority when we designed this hospital campus,” said Jacobson. “We look forward to improving delivery of health care, including clinical excellence, health equity and more.”

Care at the new health campus will be collectively delivered to patients by ThedaCare providers and the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network.

“We have a rich history of providing compassionate care to the people in this region,” said Dr. Andrabi. “We are immensely fortunate to have the opportunity to continue building a healthier future for all.”

Construction partners include Hplex Solutions as the owner representative; HGA as the architect and engineer; and Miron Construction as the construction manager. Also involved is The Sigma Group, which is the civil engineer and landscape architect.

The Fond du Lac health campus is expected to be complete in 2025.

In addition to the hospital in Fond du Lac, in 2023, the health system announced plans to create a health campus in Oshkosh. Additional information about the Oshkosh campus will be released soon.
