Technologists

Most imaging exams are performed by highly trained radiology technologists, ultrasonographers and nuclear medicine/PET technologists. All technologists at Froedtert & the Medical College are certified and registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to perform a wide range of imaging procedures.

Technologists are highly trained in operating advanced imaging systems from a variety of manufacturers. They perform general diagnostic radiography (in orthopaedics, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, emergency room, operating rooms and at off-site clinics), CT scanning, interventional radiology, MR imaging, ultrasound, breast imaging and nuclear medicine/PET tests.

Technologists also explain procedures to patient, position patients for scanning and adjust imaging devices to obtain the optimal views of specific body areas. They also participate in research programs involving inpatient, outpatient and emergency room patients.

Clinical Imaging

The Clinical Imaging team is responsible for all diagnostic imaging equipment within the Radiology Department and the hospital. Staff members maintain imaging equipment, test and monitor new equipment, repair equipment, educate medical and other staff throughout the facility, and maintain PACS and EPIC/Radiant systems. The Clinical Imaging team provides around-the-clock technical support.

Support Staff

The Radiology Department could not provide the vast array of specialized services without a support staff that provides backup to the professional, technical and medical staff, allowing them to devote their time to the clinical aspects of patient care.
