Patient & Family Services
We recognize that being in the hospital may be a confusing and sometimes unsettling experience. Whether you’re a patient or a visitor, we’d like to make your stay at Froedtert Hospital as comfortable as possible.
Patient Relations Department
The Patient Relations staff is available to assist patients, family members and friends with non-medical questions or concerns related to outpatient visits or hospital stays.
Location and Contact Information

414-805-2882, Monday through Friday, 8: a.m. to 5 p.m.
414-805-3000, After 5 p.m.
Patient Relations Services
The morning after a patient is admitted, a volunteer from Patient Relations will contact the patient and explain services that are available to the patient and his or her family. The Patient Relations Department:
- Assists in the communication process between patients/families and healthcare providers and, if needed, assists in navigating hospital systems
- Strives to improve the overall care experience of patients and families
- Provides feedback to staff about patient issues and concerns
- Educates staff and patients about patient rights and responsibilities
Problems or Concerns
If problems or concerns arise that cannot be resolved by the patient’s caregiver, a patient representative is available to listen and respond to patient/family questions, comments or concerns. Patient representatives facilitate communication between patients, family members and the patient’s caregivers to address these issues.
Concerns may include quality of care, access to information, staff communication and other issues. Patient representatives personally respond to patient and family concerns, and recommend solutions to problems, all with the utmost confidentiality. We work closely with other departments and staff to achieve this goal.
Family members in need of area lodging may obtain a brochure from Patient Relations or visit our lodging list.
Kathy’s House, less than a mile from Froedtert Hospital, provides hospitality lodging for out-of-town patients, family members and caregivers. For a referral to Kathy’s House, contact our Guest Relations Specialist at 414-805-2882 (ext. 5-2882 on in-house phones).
Family Connect Phone Cards
Family Connect Phone Cards are given to newly admitted patients who live outside of Milwaukee, Waukesha and Ozaukee counties. One 20-minute card is provided per admission. Cards are distributed by volunteers from Patient Relations, Monday through Friday. Family members may buy additional phone cards at Bobbe's Gift Shoppe, located on the second floor of Froedtert Hospital.
For your convenience, house phones are located throughout Froedtert Hospital. These phones are for in-house phone calls only. Cellular phones may be used in the Specialty Clinic lobby, Froedtert Hospital Entrance lobby, the Family Center and the Emergency Department lobby.
Patient Relations provides each nursing unit with three-part containers to give to each patient on admission. These containers are designed to hold a patient’s glasses, hearing aids and dentures.
