Accreditations

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network is committed to providing the highest quality health care for our patients. In that process, accreditations are an important measurement tool and driver of performance improvement. Through accreditation, we use self-assessment and external peer assessment to help us compare our level of performance with established standards and best practices. Then we apply what we learn to continuously improve the care we provide.

Joint Commission Accreditation

Joint Commission Gold SealAll Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin hospitals – Froedtert Hospital, Milwaukee; Community Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls; and St. Joseph’s Hospital, West Bend – are accredited by The Joint Commission, an independent nonprofit organization.

Joint Commission accreditation is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality, reflecting an organization’s commitment to meeting standards of patient safety and care. The commission conducts extensive onsite visits of health care providers every three years and evaluates every aspect of patient care delivery.

Medicare and Medicaid Certification

Members of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network participate to the extent possible as providers for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). All three of our network hospitals – Froedtert Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital – are certified hospital providers, which means that they comply with the high levels of quality care and patient safety standards set by CMS. The intent of CMS is to ensure effective, up-to-date healthcare coverage and to promote quality care for its beneficiaries. CMS surveys hospitals as part of their provider agreement for Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement.

Program Accreditation

Medical programs at all of our facilities, including Froedtert Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and our Community Physicians locations, are accredited by many state and national certifying agencies. For instance, the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center Radiation Oncology Program is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The program serves patients at Froedtert Hospital, Community Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital. Please see the individual site listing of accreditations for additional designations.
