Catherine Jacobson Biographical Summary
Catherine Jacobson is President and CEO of Froedtert Health in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Froedtert Health is a regional health care system consisting of three hospitals, a community-based medical group and a variety of health care joint ventures. The system has a combined total of 770 staffed beds and in fiscal 2012 logged approximately one million outpatient visits. The flagship hospital, Froedtert Hospital, is also the primary adult teaching affiliate of the Medical College of Wisconsin. Together, Froedtert and the Medical College form eastern Wisconsin’s only academic medical center.
Cathy joined Froedtert Health in 2010 as the Executive Vice President of Finance and Strategy, chief financial officer and chief strategy officer. She became President of Froedtert Health in 2011 responsible for all operations of the health system as well as strategic and financial planning. She assumed the CEO role in 2012.
Prior to joining Froedtert Health, Cathy spent 22 years at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago in a variety of roles including chief financial officer of Rush’s health plan as well as chief compliance officer for the health system. She was appointed as chief financial officer and treasurer of the health system in 2002 and was senior vice president of Strategic Planning and Finance, chief financial officer, and treasurer until 2010.
Cathy served as the voluntary national Chair of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) during the 2009-10 term. A member of HFMA since 1989, Cathy’s involvement with HFMA includes serving on the national Board of Directors from 2004-2010 and the Principles & Practices Board from 1995-2001 serving as chair during 2000-01.
Current board appointments include the Wisconsin Hospital Association, United Way of Greater Milwaukee, Blood Center of Wisconsin, the Greater Milwaukee Committee and Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce. She also currently serves on the UW-Milwaukee College of Health Sciences Dean’s Advisory Board.
Professionally, Cathy is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Chicago Network, an organization for women executives. She also is a member of women’s leadership organizations TEMPO and Professional Dimensions in Milwaukee.
Cathy is a Fellow of HFMA and a Certified Public Accountant. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois.
