About
Craig Young, MD is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Community and Family Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He specializes in the nonoperative treatment of injuries in competitive athletes with a special interest in treating throwing athletes and dancers. A runner, triathlete and cyclist himself, he has extensive experience in the treatment of overuse injuries in endurance athletes. His areas of expertise include knees, shoulders, elbows and ankles.
Dr. Young has more than three decades of experience treating professional athletes. He is the team physician for the Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks. He serves the arts community as company physician for the Milwaukee Ballet and was company physician for the Skylight Opera for nearly 20 years. Dr. Young was a team physician for the U.S. National and Olympic Ski and Snowboard teams and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
He has been recognized nationally for his knowledge and expertise in sports medicine. He was president of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine from 2007-2008. In 2012, he received the organization’s Founder’s Award, its highest honor. He was president of the Major League Baseball Team Physician Association from 2013-2014. Dr. Young has authored more than 150 publications and served in editorial roles for the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine, Current Sports Medicine Reports and Netter’s Sports Medicine Textbook.
