About
Ugwuji N. Maduekwe, MD, MMSc, MPH, FACS is currently Associate Professor of Surgery and Director of Regional Therapies in the Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Dr. Maduekwe received her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Dallas and her MD from Harvard Medical School. She completed her general surgery residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston followed by a Complex General Surgical Oncology fellowship at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Her clinical practice is focused on the management of peritoneal surface malignancies and gastrointestinal malignancies.
Maduekwe is a member of several prestigious societies including the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Surgical Oncology, Society of Black Academic Surgeons, Association of Women Surgeons, and the Surgical Outcomes Club.
Dr. Maduekwe’s research focuses on health disparities in access to quality surgical oncology care and how that affects disparities in outcome. She has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. She is invested in being a resource and mentor to students and residents.
