I embrace a care philosophy that focuses on the overall health of the patient in addition to the injury at hand. Therefore, every patient receives a thorough evaluation and review of appropriate imaging/testing. I discuss treatment options with the patients and their families to determine the appropriate treatment pathway that will maximize function and limit risk. I focus on conservative treatment options including physical and occupational therapy to retrain the musculoskeletal system and improve the motion at the injury site, but also through the whole body. Keeping patients active and doing the activities they love improves every aspect of health.

She did practice for several years at Marshfield Clinic in Wisconsin, but to transition back into academic medicine and has been practicing at University of Utah since 2016. She could not pass up the opportunity to combine an academic practice of sports and spine closer to her family. Dr. Curtiss is excited to start working at the Medical College of Wisconsin and is looking forward to continuing her career in academic medicine. She is excited about being a part of a large PM&R department with a variety of strengths and interests.
Teaching is one of her strong interests with specific passion for musculoskeletal ultrasound and procedure training. Learners are always welcome. Research will always be an interest, focusing on injury mechanisms and physician burnout.
She is married with 2 kids, aged 13 and 10. Paul, her husband, will be working in the title industry once the family joins her in Wisconsin after the school year. As a family, they enjoy hiking and the outdoors. They will be sad to leave the beautiful mountains and national parks of Utah, but look forward to enjoying the lush outdoors of Wisconsin. As always, much of her spare time is trying to keep up with the kids who are involved in tennis, dance, basketball, track and band. They certainly will be able to attend many more family events with the immediate family in Madison, and the extended family all throughout the Milwaukee area!
