Our Birth Center, conveniently located in West Bend — right off Highway 45, is the only birthing facility in Washington County. Here, physicians, midwives, nurses and staff provide expert birth care, close to home.

Here at the Birth Center, we support families throughout the birth experience by delivering extraordinary patient-centered care.

You and your family will have room to move about in our spacious labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) suites.

The Birth Center Experience

When you come to our Birth Center, a registered nurse will assess both you and your baby and get you and your family settled in a private, comfortable patient suite. Your nurse will monitor you and your baby throughout labor, and will work with you on pain management options during labor.

Your Birth Center suite is the next best thing to home! Inside each private, spacious suite you will feel welcomed by the wood cabinetry with soothing décor and large windows. Some of our featured amenities include:

  • In-room refrigerator
  • Whirlpool tub and shower
  • Flat screen TV with DVD player
  • Couch (also for guest stay)
  • Comfortable rocking chair and recliner
  • Free WiFi

Our private birthing rooms, equipped with birthing beds, are designed to blend homelike, comfortable surroundings with the most up-to-date technology and equipment.

Each suite has its own private bathroom complete with whirlpool tub for mothers who are interested in hydrotherapy during labor.

Mothers are able to keep their healthy newborns where they feel safest; at their side during their hospital stay. While you are awake, you can hold your baby in your bed or in the chair. While you are sleeping, your baby should be put in the crib next to your bed if not being held by a loved one.

Mothers that have any questions or concerns about breastfeeding can meet with our lactation consultants for assistance. Our consultants are available during and after your hospital stay.

Babies who need a little bit of extra help, such as oxygen or IV antibiotics, receive care in our Level II special care nursery.

All of our physicians and nurse midwives have offices in the adjoining Pleasant Valley Health Center, so they’re almost never more than a few steps away.

If a C-section is the safest option to deliver your baby, it can be performed immediately or as scheduled in the Cesarean birth suite located within the Birth Center. Birth Center staff are specially trained to care for mom and baby. Rest assured that your nurse, expertly trained staff and your support person will be at your side during the delivery.

Safe Sleep Certification

Froedtert West Bend Hospital is the first hospital in the state to achieve certification from the Cribs for Kids National Safe Sleep Hospital Certification program. The program recognizes hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to reducing infant sleep-related deaths through the development of a hospital policy, staff training, parent education, modeling through a wearable blanket program, and a pledge to participate in ongoing audits.

After You Give Birth

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! Registered nurses will continue to provide care and attention to you, your family and baby throughout your stay. As you bond with your baby, we encourage skin to skin contact for at least the first hour. This helps bonding, regulate baby’s heart rate and temperature. You and your support person will be able to enjoy your birthing suite throughout your stay. All efforts to further bond with your baby are encouraged, including having your baby stay in the room with you at all times. This allows you to learn about your baby, newborn care and ask questions to name a few benefits.

If your baby needs special care after birth — such as premature babies and babies who need oxygen, intravenous fluids or specialized our Special Care Nursery (Level I) is available. Here, babies receive individual monitoring, continuous surveillance, and specialized nursing care and technology. Our Special Care Nursery has private areas where parents can hold and spend time with their baby.

As a personal touch, we’ll send you home with a complimentary set of baby footprints as a cherished memento of your Birth Center experience.
